“Time moves slowly but passes quickly.” – Alice Walker

Time and I have a very tumultuous relationship. I can't recall when it's ever been otherwise. It always seemed like time went by super fast when I wasn't paying close attention and even faster when I didn't want it to. That was especially true when I tried learning my times tables. And being time tested on those same tables was even worse. It didn't matter how much time and effort I put into any of it. The results were still miserable. Except for 6x6. That one was easy. 36. I'll never understand why that that one stuck, but it did. When I think back to those days in elementary school, it's as if I'm just frozen in my seat. Sitting there breathless. The test blank and my mind even more blank. I have no answers. Time is completely still. I am panicked, but nobody knows. Or maybe nobody wants to know. In the late 1970's and early '80's, nobody knew much of anything about dyscalculia. And nobody knew I was suffering.
